Practical training

Studying in KSMA provides for cadets’ shipboard and industrial practical training, which is the obligatory part of training of personnel.

The concept of cadets’ practical training corresponds to the requirements of «Regulations on students’ practice at higher educational establishments of Ukraine since 08.04.1993 №93.

The company «Marlow Navigation» is one of the largest crewing companies in the world. About 1000 vessels from more than 200 shipping companies are managed by Marlow Navigation. Annually company’s representatives select 100 cadets (60 cadets of navigation department and 40 cadets of engineering department) of the 2 year for the cadet program, which provides shipboard training on modern vessels. During the first shipboard training students hold the position of a cadet, during the second – a wiper. On graduation from the Academy or College graduating cadets are employed in the company as Junior officers.

For the quality practical training a modern training vessel is assigned to the Academy: since September 2007 till April 2012 - «Beluga Constellation», since April 2012 till present «Warnow Jupiter» (Multipurpose heavy lift vessel) where cadets of Navigational department constantly undergo practical training as a part of group consisting of 8 members under the supervision of experienced training-officer (officer in command).
